Look who’s finally back. Me! I have been gone for a few months because life became a bit busy, and I decided that blogging would stay in the back burner. With that said, I’m back, and should be posting once a week, most likely on Sundays.
To start 2019 off right, I thought about how I want to go about my reading goals for the year. My reading in 2018 was subpar compared to how much I usually read in a year. I tried to read during my busiest months, but I always couldn’t focus. Last year, my goal was to read an hour a day everyday. That, obviously, did not happen. If I had a long day and I had to sit down and read for an hour, I couldn’t focus. Some days I was tired, and some days I wasn’t in the mood to read at all. It happens. For 2019, I want to read 30 minutes a day. It doesn’t seem like a lot of time, but it’s a small amount I can accomplish even on my busiest and most stressful days.
Continuing from last year, I still want to read more diversely. I want to continue reading books by people of colour, and LGBTQ+. I feel all authors should be recognized and appreciated for what they have written. Imagine all of the books we miss out on when we don’t read diversely. Adding on to that, I want to read different genres, and more of them. I usually gravitate toward literary fiction, but this year I want to read more science fiction, fantasy, nonfiction, etc.
I’m not sure how many books I’ll read this year, or how many books I’ll love. But, I hope I’ll be reading everyday and giving myself that little bit of me time. Even if it’s only a few moments in the day.
